Privacy policy

The short version: we store what we need to run your bars, and we store nothing at all about the people who visit your store.

Who we are

Codofaz builds and operates Codofaz Shipping Bar for Shopify. In this policy, “we” means Codofaz, “you” means a merchant using our app, and “shopper” means a visitor to your store. Questions go to [email protected].

What we store about your store

When you install the app we store, and keep updated:

  • Your store's myshopify.com domain and store name
  • Your store's currency and timezone, so amounts and schedules are correct
  • Your plan, so we know how many bars you may hold
  • The bars you build: amounts, messages, colours and targeting rules
  • An access token issued by Shopify, which lets the app talk to your store's admin. It is stored encrypted at rest and never shared.

What we store about your shoppers: nothing

No shopper is identified, profiled, tracked or stored. We hold no names, no email addresses, no cart contents, no orders, and no browsing history.

This is not a policy choice we could quietly reverse — it is how the app is built. When a shopper opens a page on your store, the bar's settings arrive inside the page itself, so the shopper's browser never contacts our servers at all. Rules like “returning customers only” or “not in Canada” are evaluated inside that browser, from values your theme already has, and the result never leaves the page.

Cookies and browser storage

The bar sets no cookies and runs no analytics. If you allow shoppers to close the bar, the storefront script writes a single value into that browser's own local storage so the bar stays closed for as long as you chose. It contains the bar's identifier and an expiry time, nothing else, it never leaves the device, and clearing site data removes it.

This website sets no cookies and runs no third-party analytics either. Fonts are served from our own domain rather than a font network.

Why we are allowed to hold your data

We process the data above to perform our contract with you: without your store's domain and your bar settings, the app cannot do the job you installed it for. Where we keep records for accounting or to answer a support thread later, we rely on our legitimate interest in running the business responsibly.

Who else sees it

  • Shopify, which hosts your store, handles billing and issues the access token. Shopify's own privacy terms apply to your store data.
  • Our hosting and database providers, who store the data on our behalf under contract and may not use it for anything else.
  • Our email provider, Amazon SES, if you write to us, so that we can reply.
  • Cloudflare, which hosts this website and runs a spam check (Turnstile) on the contact form.

We do not sell data, we do not share it for advertising, and we do not use it to train anything.

How long we keep it

Your bars are kept while the app is installed. If you uninstall, the bar disappears from your storefront immediately and your session is deleted, but your bar settings are kept for a short period so that reinstalling restores your work rather than starting you over. Ask us to delete them sooner and we will.

Shopify also sends us a shop redaction request 48 hours after an uninstall becomes permanent. When it arrives, everything belonging to that store is deleted.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of the data we hold about your store, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Write to [email protected] and we will answer within 30 days.

Requests about a shopper are simpler: we have nothing to return, because we store nothing about them. If Shopify forwards us a shopper data request on your behalf, we answer that there is no data to provide.

Where data is held

Our database and application servers are hosted in [hosting region]. Where a provider processes data outside your region, that transfer is covered by the standard contractual clauses.

Children

The app is a business tool sold to merchants. It is not directed at children and we do not knowingly hold data about them.

Changes to this policy

If we change it, we update the date at the top of this page. A change that affects what we store or who sees it is announced in the app before it takes effect.
